Steven Weingartner is an award-winning writer and editor specializing in military history, and security and defense issues.

In addition to numerous magazine feature articles on topics spanning the history of warfare from the earliest times to the present, he is the co-author, with Lala Fishman, of Lala's Story: A Memoir of the Holocaust, published by Northwestern University Press in 1997 and the recipient of the 1998 Carl Sandburg Award; and co-author, with Lt. Col. Dean Ladd, USMC (Ret.), of Faithful Warriors: A Combat Marine Remembers the Pacific War, published to universal acclaim by Naval Institute Press
in 2009.

A consultant and on-camera commentator for the History Channel's Battles B.C. series and National Geographic Channel's Ground War documentary series, he is currently writing a book on warfare in ancient India for Pen and Sword Books, and a book on chariot warfare. Steven lives in the Chicago area with his wife Sally and their beloved border collies.
